MCP tools reference
The QueryLane MCP server offers 57 tools in QueryLane 1.0.94. An agent connected over MCP sees all of them. The built-in assistant uses the same tools, except the ones marked No in the Assistant column.
Every tool except querylane_profiles_list and querylane_connectors_list accepts an optional profileId. Without it, the tool works in the profile the server was started with (--profile in the client configuration).
What the effect column means
- Reads: looks at jobs, connections, schemas, runs, results or plugins and changes nothing.
- Changes: saves or deletes something: a job, a connection, run history, a stored query result or an export file.
- Executes: starts or stops work that reaches outside the profile: a database query, a step or job run, a connection test or a plugin tool.
The read tools querylane_jobs_export and querylane_chart_render accept an optional filePath and then also save a copy of their result to that file.
In the built-in assistant, a tool that changes or executes waits for your approval, and read tools cannot write files: their optional filePath argument is removed. See Assistant.
QueryLane does not ask for approval when an MCP client calls a tool. Your agent decides that with its own permission settings. See Connect your agent.
